April 2009

At the April 6 regular meeting, nominations for officers were taken. There were no nominees offered other than the current officers. John Ramsey made a motion to retain the current officers for another year and it was seconded by Dot Tredway. A vote was taken by those present and the motion passed. Officers for 2009 - 2010 are: President - Tony Cundiff, 812-388-6519, Vice President - Sara Doane, 812-388-6648, Secretary - Rowena Tripp, 812-388-6649 and Treasurer - Char Sandel 812-388-2950.

Great News! The Mustering Ilm Park Group now owns the park property. We were able to purchase the six acres of land from Kimball International with the final payment made in March 2009. We are very proud of all who made this dream a reality.

We now have electricity at the Park. The costs have already been paid. We offer John Ramsey a big “Thank You” for his work in wiring and trenching for the hook up to the shelter house and stage. This addition will allow us to enjoy more evening events.

In November 2008, we applied for a grant and were successful in receiving $1,000 from the Daviess-Martin County REMC. We are planning to build a new restroom.

Due to the ongoing improvements, we need your help to replenish our funds. You can help by attending events held at the Park, requiting new members, or by making a secure online donation using the PayPal button at the left to help with expenses.

An additional “Atta Boy” goes out to Rick Abel and the group he brought to help with our first “work day” of the 2009 season at the Park.

Chris Jones 812-388-7555 is coordinating volunteers to mow the Park property each week or as needed. If you are willing to help, give Chris a call.

Paul and Dana George have graciously offered to donate a hog for the hog roast which was held on June 20, 2009. If you didn’t attend the roast, you surely missed a great meal and a good time. The chef for the hog roast both last & this year was John Gore who should probably have his own cooking show.

Paul and Dana will also donate a second hog to be raffled. The winner to be announced at the October Fall Festival and Kids Day. (Date and time pending) Thank you very much Paul and Dana for your generosity!
