Historical and recent photos and recollections will be added to this page as they become available.

Historical photos of other Martin County sites including the LaSalle Springs Hotel (also named for the nearby healthful natural sulfur springs) which was located about 2.6 miles NE of the Mustering Elm Site.

Burro heard

The above photo is looking west from the current Mustering Elm Park Grounds.

Hotel

Trinity Springs Hotel looking south east. The horses at the left would be standing near the middle of current SR-450 and the drive at the right is still there.

T.S Hotel

The concrete curb below is visible next to the automobiles above.

Hotel steps

The last ruminants of the classic Hotel were this concrete curb and steps. They remained as a gentle reminder of days gone by until removed in 1975 to clear the right of way for the SR-450 upgrade. The new Indian Creek Bridge replaced the one seen in the top photo.

Dam with Grist Mill

Indian Creek Dam with Grist Mill was located just upstream from the Mustering Elm Park. Part of the dam and concrete foundation are still present.

The LaSalle Springs Hotel above was located on White River about 2 miles northeast of Trinity Springs. The sulfur spring at this location also still flows freely today.

Parking Lot

Parking east of the Springs in the current Mustering Elm Park.

Pines Hotel

The Pines Hotel was located on the north side of current SR-450 on the 2nd curve west of the Trinity Springs Hotel.

Ray Brassine Grocery

Otis Hitchcock shown reading the newspaper owned the local grocery store just north of the Trintiy Springs Hotel on the opposite side of the road. This photo is looking west on current day SR-450.

The grocery was purchased and operated by Ray & Naomi Brassine until it was removed as part of the right of way for the SR-450 highway and bridge improvements. I have many fond memories of this front porch.

Ray’s sister, Sylvia is shown below in this 1956 photo with the store in the background facing northeast.

The next 4 photos are September 2008 views of the grist mill and dam located just upstream on Indian Creek from the park.

The retaining wall at the west side of the former dam can be seen on the far side of the water however the creek no longer flows over the dam. I heard that a local farmer excavated a ditch on the west side of the retaining wall to lower the water table for his nearby field. Since then, the creek has eroded the ditch enough leave the actual dam ‘high & dry’.
